Shah Alam Bhuiyan
Shah Alam Bhuiyan, a Bangladeshi migrant worker, died after being struck by falling debris from a drone that was intercepted by air defence systems in the United Arab Emirates. The incident occurred when the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) was neutralized mid-air, and fragments from the destroyed drone fell onto a farm area where he was present.
Shah Alam Bhuiyan’s death was the result of an indirect consequence of aerial defence operations. While the UAE military successfully intercepted a drone threat, the destruction of the UAV caused fragments to scatter over a wide area. These fragments landed on a farm in the Al-Rifa’a area of Fujairah, unintentionally striking Shah Alam. This type of incident highlights the risks civilians face even when defensive systems function as intended, as falling debris from aerial interceptions can still cause casualties on the ground.
