Nahidul Islam
Nahidul Islam died in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon while working there as a migrant laborer. He had traveled to Lebanon in early 2026 after taking a substantial loan in the hope of earning enough money to support his family and improve their financial condition. The strike occurred as he and his fellow Bangladeshi worker, Shafiqul Islam, were attempting to move to a safer location due to fears of an impending attack.
Nahidul Islam had gone to Lebanon only two months before his death after borrowing approximately Tk 500,000 to finance his migration. He worked as a shepherd in the Zebdine area of Nabatieh district, while living near fellow Bangladeshi worker Shafiqul Islam. On May 11, 2026, amid fears of escalating conflict, the two men attempted to relocate to a safer place by van. Before they could reach safety, an Israeli drone strike hit the area, killing them instantly. Their bodies were later transferred to Nabih Berri Hospital in Nabatieh. Nahid’s death ended his efforts to support his family and left them facing severe emotional and financial hardship.
