Before the attack, Manije and her husband had sought temporary refuge in Taleghan to avoid the ongoing airstrikes. On March 27, 2026, they returned to their apartment in Tehran to collect medicine for their daughter. That same day, heavy bombardment struck the Evin district. Their residential building was hit, killing Manije in her own home. Her death illustrates how civilians were caught in the conflict despite having no involvement in military activities.
Biography
Manije Khalili Kangarani Farahani was an Iranian retiree and mother living in Tehran. She was the mother of Armin Zoghi, who resides in Lille, France. Known as a caring mother, she maintained close contact with her son despite the distance between them.
Manije Khalili Kangarani Farahani spent her later years in Tehran with her husband. She was part of a family whose members lived both in Iran and abroad. During the 2026 conflict, she and her husband temporarily relocated to Taleghan for safety. Their decision to return to Tehran to obtain medication for their daughter reflected her continued dedication to her family’s wellbeing. In her final conversation with her son, she reassured him by saying, “Please, don’t worry.” Hours later, she was killed when their apartment was struck in the bombardment.
