Biography
Ziad Al-Razi was a Palestinian journalist serving with the Palestinian Broadcasting Corporation in Gaza. Known for his professionalism and commitment to documenting daily realities under siege, he worked to ensure that the voices of ordinary Palestinians were heard beyond Gaza’s borders. On 11 August 2025, he was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City while on duty. His death highlighted once more the dangers faced by local journalists who continued reporting despite constant life-threatening conditions.
Ziad Al-Razi dedicated his career to public broadcasting, focusing on stories that reflected the lives, struggles, and resilience of Palestinians. Through his reporting, he sought to document the truth on the ground, especially during escalations when information was scarce and chaos widespread.
Colleagues described him as a calm, dependable figure — someone who stayed composed even under bombardment, and who viewed journalism as a mission rather than a job. He believed that the presence of journalists on the streets of Gaza was essential to prevent silence, erasure, and misinformation. Ziad frequently covered bombed neighborhoods, overcrowded shelters, and the impact of war on families.
On the day he was killed, he was reportedly working in Gaza City, where airstrikes intensified. Despite warnings and the risk, he continued reporting, wanting to capture both the devastation and the human stories behind it. Moments later, an airstrike hit the location, ending his life in the line of duty.
