Biography

Zahra Arjomandi was a 51-year-old Iranian Christian and a mother of two. She was killed on January 8, 2026, after being shot during a protest. Separated from her son during a communications blackout, she was later found wounded and taken to a hospital, where she died in his arms. Her death occurred amid one of the deadliest crackdowns in Iran’s recent history, which disproportionately affected religious minorities, including Christian converts.

Zahra Arjomandi, aged 51, was an Iranian Christian convert living under a system that closely monitors and restricts religious minorities. During the massive nationwide protests that erupted in late December 2025 and peaked on January 8–9, 2026, she participated in or was present near a protest gathering.

During the unrest, widespread internet and communications blackouts caused chaos and family separations. Zahra was separated from her son during the demonstrations. He later found her seriously wounded and transported her to a hospital, where she died in his arms.

Following her death, Iranian security authorities confiscated her body for six days. They later released it under strict conditions, banning public memorial services and preventing open discussion of her killing. Her case was later documented by international religious-freedom monitors as part of a pattern of lethal repression against Christian protesters.
