A sheriff's deputy, Yvonne DesHotel, 45, and her estranged husband, Marc DesHotel, 50, were killed in an exchange of gunfire that also wounded another deputy, Jacob Walker, 24, from the Washington Parish sheriff's office. Marc shot and killed Yvonne and shot and wounded Walker. Walker shot and killed Marc.
