Officer Josh Ridings and a second officer went to a Dunkin' Doughnuts to serve warrants on Terral, accused of molesting his three granddaughters. As Officer Ridings entered the restaurant, Terral shot him in the chest. Officer Ridings shot at Terral, stumbled out of the building and collapsed. Terral shot himself fatally in the head and collapsed. Officer Ridings, wearing a ballistic vest, survived.He had served PPD for less than a year.
