William J. Hansen was killed after his motorcycle hit a truck during a police chase. At around 9:30 a.m., an officer made a U-turn when he saw a pickup on Blue Ridge Boulevard that fit the description of one that had been reported stolen. The officer checked the truck's plates and learned it wasn't the stolen other. Meanwhile, the motorcyclist who'd been behind the truck reportedly took off at a high rate of speed, so the officer chased it into a residential area where the motorcycle crashed into a truck in an intersection.
