Deadly force

Police went to a residence in the 2400 block N. 70th St. around 5:50 p.m. after reports that a man was armed with a gun there. Upon their arrival, they found the resident of the home, a man in his mid-60s, with a rifle. When he threatened the officers, the department's special response team was called in. Less than an hour later, the man, still holding the rifle, came out of the home. When he refused officers' orders to drop the gun, an officer shot and killed him.
