Around 7 a.m., officers shot and killed a man with a knife in the 7th Street/Metro Center station in downtown Los Angeles. Hernandez was having an altercation with transit security when LAPD transit officers attempted first a "non-lethal" method and then when that was unsuccessful, they shot and killed Hernandez.
