Wasim Nasser Abu Khalifa was an 18-year-old Palestinian from Balata refugee camp in the northern West Bank city of Nablus. On August 18, 2022, he was shot and killed by Israeli forces during a military invasion into his camp. Israeli soldiers fired two live rounds at him, one striking his upper chest and the other his heart. Despite efforts by medics to save his life at Rafidia Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries. His killing came amid a broader military operation in Nablus that left dozens injured and further escalated tensions in the occupied territory.

Wasim Nasser Abu Khalifa, aged 18, was a resident of the Balata refugee camp in Nablus, located in the northern occupied West Bank. On August 18, 2022, Israeli forces launched a large-scale military operation across Nablus, targeting several areas including the Balata camp, Askar camp, and Joseph’s Tomb. The invasion prompted widespread protests and exchanges of fire between Palestinian resistance fighters and Israeli troops.

During this raid, Israeli soldiers fatally shot Wasim with two live rounds—one in the upper chest and another in the heart. Medics from the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) rushed him to Rafidia Hospital, but he died shortly afterward due to the severity of his wounds. According to PRCS, at least 36 other Palestinians were injured during the raid, including three who suffered life-threatening wounds from live fire, and one person who was struck in the chest by a high-velocity gas canister. Additionally, at least 27 people—mostly children and infants—suffered from tear gas inhalat

Wasim Nasser Abu Khalifa died from multiple gunshot wounds, including a fatal live round to the heart and another to the upper chest, fired by Israeli soldiers during a military operation in Balata refugee camp. The shots caused massive internal bleeding and cardiac trauma, and although he was quickly transported to Rafidia Hospital, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival due to the critical nature of his injuries.
