Wala’ Mohammad Ibrahim Amen was a 24-year-old woman from Beit Lahia in northern Gaza. She was six months pregnant at the time of her death and lived with her family in a home that became the target of Israeli airstrikes on May 13, 2021. Wala’ was killed alongside her two sisters and their father when missiles struck their home during a night of heavy bombardment that killed at least 36 Palestinians across Gaza. Her life was cut short in an instant, together with the unborn child she carried, in an attack that left behind only grief, rubble, and devastation.

Wala’ Mohammad Ibrahim Amen, born and raised in the Gaza Strip, was a young woman of 24 years old when her life was tragically ended in an Israeli airstrike on May 13, 2021. Like many in Gaza, she grew up under conditions of siege, repeated wars, and severe humanitarian challenges, yet remained deeply tied to her family and community. At the time of her death, she was six months pregnant, carrying with hope the next generation despite the hardships surrounding her. Her home in Beit Lahia was a place of family life and safety, but it was obliterated in a matter of seconds when Israeli missiles struck without warning. Wala’ died together with her two sisters and their father, making her family one of several across Gaza erased in that night of airstrikes. She died when Israeli warplanes bombed her family’s home in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza, on May 13, 2021, during an overnight bombardment that targeted residential neighborhoods. The attack not only killed Wala’, who was six months pregnant, but also killed her two sisters and their father. The strike was part of a broader series of Israeli attacks that destroyed three homes sheltering 91 civilians and wounded 27 others, including 6 women and 10 children.
