Espositio, a former Chicago cop, had been vandalizing the house of a former friend--slashing tires, firing a pellet gun at windows. When caught red-handed at 4:00 am he had a brief standoff with a neighbor then fled on his motorcycle. A local officer, believing him to be armed and perceiving a threatening movement, fatally shot him.
