The Ohio State Highway Patrol attempted to stop a Pontiac for speeding. Troopers chased the other at speeds of 90 mph. As the other approached the Euclid Avenue exit, it did a U-turn in the middle of the highway and began driving westbound in the eastbound lanes, quickly hitting a white SUV head-on. The driver of the SUV, Johnell Smith, 41, was killed, as was the driver of the Pontiac, Vernon Hayes Jr., 28.
