Deadly force

Deputies were called to a home when Umberto Sanchez Ramoz became violent and threatened family members with a knife. The family members locked themselves into a back room and called 911. He panicked when deputies arrived. He allegedly kicked in a door and took an 11-year-old family member hostage at knifepoint. When Ramoz, who had a history of mental illness, refused to drop the knife at his brother's throat, one of the deputies shot and killed him.
