Suicide
Police pulled over Bateman and two women, who have not been identified, on North Oakland Gravel Road, east of Alfalfa Drive. The two women stepped outside the other, then police heard shots fired from inside the sedan. Officers returned fire, but Bateman had apparently shot and killed himself. He had an active parole violation warrant for burglary. He was also wanted for questioning for his involvement in a separate shootout with police.
