Officers responded to South 11th Street and Lewis Avenue for a person with a gun. When they tried to make contact with him, the man fled into an abandoned building. He allegedly started to fire indiscriminately at the surrounding area. Trent Xavier Leach reportedly pointed his weapon at officers, and at least one officer shot and killed him.
