Police responded to report of a burglary at 3395 Hwy 5 and found Thomas O'Dell in a fenced-in area outside the store parking. O'Dell reportedly fired his gun and injured a policeman. He was shot and killed. O'Dell was also wanted in connection with a murder in Mattoon.
