Police were called to the American Motel at about 1 a.m. regarding a suspected bank robber. After an approximately two-hours-long standoff, officers entered the room at about 3 a.m. and found Thomas Charles Syder armed with a handgun. Snyder refused to disarm, and the two officers shot and killed him.
