Deadly force

Around 8 p.m., officers were called by a security guard in regard to a disturbance related to a man who lived in an apartment. When police arrived, they reportedly heard noise coming from inside the apartment. The officers entered the apartment and reportedly observed the man brandishing two knives. Police allegedly told the man to drop the knives and when he refused, they twice attempted to use a Taser to incapacitate the man. When that tactic reportedly failed, and the man reportedly continued to approach the officers, and one of the officers shot and killed Thomas Celona.
