Thomas Brian Buchanan's wife was forced to flee the home with children after an argument with her husband became heated. She called 911 from a nearby convenience store about 6:30 p.m. When deputies and a trooper arrived, Buchanan reportedly came out of the home and fired one round at deputies and the trooper. A short time later, Buchanan fired again, and they returned fire. After negotiations with no response from Buchanan, police searched the home and ultimately discovered Buchanan's body with a reportedly self-inflicted gunshot to the head.
