Foster, who appeared to be intoxicated, confronted an off-duty deputy at the deputy's home. The deputy told Foster to leave. Foster entered his other, tried to run the deputy over, stepped out of the other and attacked the deputy on foot with a knife in each hand. The deputy shot Foster twice, killing him.
