Biography
Tawfiq Ayman Abu Al-Auf, 17, was a Palestinian teenager from Gaza City who lived through multiple Israeli invasions and the ongoing occupation. He and his 12-year-old sister, Tala, were receiving trauma counseling from the Norwegian Refugee Council due to the psychological effects of the conflict. Tawfiq was killed along with his sister and their father, Dr. Ayman Abu Al-Auf, in an Israeli airstrike on their home on al-Wehda Street on May 16, 2021. His death highlights the devastating impact of the Israeli bombardment on families and children in Gaza.
Tawfiq was one of the children receiving mental health support from the Norwegian Refugee Council for trauma sustained during repeated Israeli invasions. He lived with his family in Gaza City’s al-Wehda Street, an area that was repeatedly targeted during the May 2021 Israeli offensive. On May 16, 2021, Tawfiq, his sister Tala (12), and their father, Dr. Ayman Abu Al-Auf, were killed when Israeli missiles destroyed their residential building. The attack occurred without warning, destroying multiple nearby buildings and claiming the lives of dozens of civilians, including children and healthcare professionals.
