On the night of May 13, 2021, Israeli warplanes unleashed heavy bombardments across Gaza, targeting homes, neighborhoods, and public areas. In Beit Lahia, one of the hardest-hit areas, Suhaib Ghanem was killed during the strikes. Biography
Suhaib ‘Abed al-Raheem ‘Awad Ghanem, 25, was from Beit Lahia in the northern Gaza Strip. He was killed on May 13, 2021, during a night of intense Israeli airstrikes that struck homes, residential towers, and infrastructure across Gaza. Suhaib was among 36 Palestinians, including children, women, and entire families, who lost their lives in the bombardment. His death came during one of the most violent nights of the 11-day assault on Gaza.
Born and raised in Beit Lahia, Suhaib Ghanem lived in one of Gaza’s most densely targeted regions, often subjected to military attacks and destruction. At only 25 years old, he was in the prime of his youth, navigating life under siege and conflict while holding on to the hope of a better future. On May 13, 2021, the Israeli military launched continuous airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, striking residential areas, apartment towers, and family homes without warning.
Suhaib was killed in one of those strikes, his life ended abruptly alongside dozens of others that night. He became one of 36 Palestinians killed in the overnight bombardment, which also left hundreds wounded and many more trapped beneath rubble. His death reflected the indiscriminate nature of the attacks that claimed civilians of all ages — from infants to grandparents — erasing lives and futures in an instant.
