Steven Nguyen was killed after a high-speed chase that began as part of a day-long manhunt for attempted murder suspect Mauricio Venzor-Gonzalez, who escaped from custody at Denver Health Medical Center. Denver Police Department officers William Bohm, Austin Barela and Susan Mercado shot and killed killed Nguyen and injured Rafael Landeros Jr., 24, in a case of mistaken identity, which District Attorney Beth McCann nonetheless determined was justified.
