Deputies reported that they suspected Bowman of having robbed a bank, and that after chasing him in his SUV he got trapped in a cul-de-sac. He left his other as if to surrender and dropped his jacket, then reached back into the SUV and began firing a gun at deputies. They returned fire, killing him.
