Steven A. Bergwall fired a gunshot outside a convenience store during a quarrel with his father and was chased by officers into a residential neighborhood, where he shot and killed himself in the street. Bergwall didn't respond to an officer's command to show his hands and then fired one shot into his head from a handgun.
