Officers were called in reference to an aggravated assault. Officers arrived to find one person had been stabbed. They said they saw Stephen Dove on top of another victim with a knife at that person's throat. Officers ordered Dove to put down the knife. After he refused, a Jacksonville officer fired two shots and killed Dove.
