Two NYPD officers were flagged down by a woman in a taxi, then accompanied her to a nearby apartment to retrieve her possessions from a bad domestic situation. Inside Parris shouted that he wouldn't open the door, then emerged wielding a large knife. Parris explicitly threatened the officers and advanced to within three feet before being fatally shot.
