Sima Mousavi, a 37-year-old resident of Karaj, was killed during nationwide protests in Iran on January 9, 2026, after being shot by Islamic Republic security forces. She was targeted near the parking area of her residential building while attempting to enter her home. Friends described her as someone deeply passionate about acting, a path she was actively pursuing at the time of her death.

Sima Mousavi lived in Karaj and was known among her friends for her strong interest in the performing arts, particularly acting, which she pursued seriously. On the evening of Friday, January 9, 2026, as protests spread across the country, she was returning to her residence with a friend. Reports indicate that security forces chased her into the parking garage of her building. As she reached the elevator area, she was shot from behind. She was killed at the scene, along with her friend, during the security forces’ operation inside the residential building.
