Parole officers attempted to arrest Ruble when he attempted to leave his home, when they told him to stop he took out a gun and pointed it at officers before entering a detached garage which began a standoff. Negotiators tried to end the standoff peacefully but after multiple phone conversations with Ruble he allegedly started a fire in the garage before jumping from the second story of the building. Police say that Rubles gun was pointed at authorities when they engaged in gunfire, and Ruble was killed.
