Police responded to the city's ShotSpotter gunfire alert system and subsequent 911 calls reporting shots fired. Three plain-clothes detectives encountered Shawn Brown, 20, of Atlantic City, who was armed with a handgun, according to police. The officers shot and killed Brown.
