Wanted on a felony theft warrant, Grundmeyer fled from an attempted traffic stop by county officers. After stopping to let his 14-year-old daughter and her friend out of the car, he continued to drive away from officers. Boxed in by police vehicles in a residential street, he began ramming them with his car, and he was fatally shot.
