Salama Ra’fat Sharay’a, 19, from Birzeit city in the central West Bank, was killed by Israeli soldiers near the Al-Jalazoun refugee camp, north of Ramallah, on October 3, 2022. He was traveling in a car with two other Palestinians early in the morning when Israeli forces opened live fire, killing Salama and Khaled Anbar Dabbas, 19, and seriously injuring Bassel Qassem Basbous, 18. Eyewitnesses rejected Israeli claims that the car tried to ram soldiers, stating instead that the Palestinians were caught off guard by the raid. The Israeli army took the bodies and the wounded to an undisclosed location, denying Palestinian medics access to them. Following the killings, Ramallah witnessed widespread protests and a general strike in mourning.
