Sabreen Naser Mohammed Abu Dayyah was a 27-year-old Palestinian woman from the Gaza Strip. She was among the dozens of civilians who lost their lives during the heavy Israeli bombardments of May 13, 2021, a night that claimed 36 lives across Gaza. Sabreen’s death came amidst relentless airstrikes that targeted homes, apartment towers, and public infrastructure, leaving entire neighborhoods in ruins. Her life was cut short in the prime of her youth, part of a devastating toll on Palestinian families and communities during the escalation.

Born and raised in the Gaza Strip, Sabreen lived through years of siege and repeated military assaults on her community. At just 27 years old, she had already witnessed the hardships of life in an impoverished and blockaded territory, where safety and stability were constantly threatened. Like many young Palestinians, her daily life was framed by resilience in the face of adversity. Tragically, on May 13, 2021, Sabreen became one of the 36 Palestinians killed in a single night of Israeli airstrikes that swept across the Gaza Strip, targeting residential buildings, towers, and infrastructure. The attack was part of the wider escalation between May 10–21, 2021, which ultimately claimed the lives of 247 Palestinians, including 66 children and 39 women. Rafat Mohammad at-Tanani, 39, his pregnant wife and four young children, were in their home in Beit Hanoun town when the Israeli army bombed the area without any warning. The entire residential square was destroyed, including the family’s home. Ra’fat Tanani, 39, his pregnant wife Rawiye, 35, and their children Ismail, 6, Ameer, 5, Adham, 4, and Mohammad, 3, were all killed.
