Police arrived about five minutes after a call about shots fired and encountered a man outside the home, police said. Shortly after, the man reportedly walked toward officers and pointed a gun at them. Officer Steve Dickson shot and killed Massengale. Massengale's wife and three dogs were found killed inside the house.
