Deadly force

Police responded to a report that a 40-year-old man with a history of domestic violence arrests had forced his way into the home of his estranged girlfriend. Officers made phone contact with Riebling who told the officers he was not going back to prison and was armed with at least one assault weapon and explosives. During subsequent telephone contact Riebling, along with two of the girlfriend's children, told officers that the suspect was armed. The suspect left the home and aimed what appeared to be a rifle at one of the officers. The officer shot and killed the suspect.
