Fairfield police officers attempted to stop a driver suspected of driving under the influence in the 4900 block of Dixie Highway when the driver sped off, knocking one officer to the ground, police said. Another officer gave chase but backed off because of the high speed. The car continued at a high speed and struck a pole in the 2800 block of Dixie Highway, police said. Partin was pronounced dead at the scene.
