Ronald Michael McCrary was a suspect in an armed robbery at the Dollar Tree. Officers were called to the Dollar Tree in Sanford around 4:30 p.m. The clerk said a man armed with a knife came into the store and demanded money. The man fled the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Officers found McCrary in a wooded area next to the store. Police said he was armed with a knife, and he was shot and killed by 36-year-old Officer Samuel McLeod. Details as to what precipitated the killing were withheld by police.
