Roman Martyniuk

Roman Martyniuk, aged 17, was the eldest of three siblings living in Korostyshiv, a city in the Zhytomyr region of northern Ukraine. Known for his kindness, intelligence, and willingness to help others, Roman was regarded as a bright and promising young man by his family, teachers, and peers. He was seen as a supportive older brother and a positive influence in his community.

On the night of a Russian missile strike in May 2025, Roman’s life was tragically cut short when the missile hit his family’s home during a heavy aerial barrage. He was killed alongside his younger siblings, Tamara (8) and Stanislav (12), as they slept. The attack devastated the Martyniuk family and deeply affected the local community of Korostyshiv.

Roman’s death symbolizes the grave consequences of the war in Ukraine, particularly the devastating impact on innocent civilians and children. His loss was mourned by many who recognized him as a talented and caring young man with a promising future. His passing remains a poignant reminder of the human cost of ongoing conflict and the urgent need for peace.
