Bernalillo County Sheriff's deputies attempted to pull over a stolen car but the driver fled. Albuquerque police joined the chase, which ended when the car crashed into a van driven by Robert Chavez, who died from his injuries five days after the accident. The person driving the stolen car was charged with felony murder. Chavez's family has filed a civil lawsuit against Bernalillo County.
