West chased his neighbors by other and shot at them. West and his neighbors returned to their homes. Deputies Buck Carroll and James Jackson responded, shining the lights of their patrol car into West's front yard. West came out of his house and pointed a shotgun at the deputies as they told him to show his hands. The deputies fatally shot him.
