Police said an officer saw Richard Stubbs driving near 288th & Ida and suspected he was drunk. The officer reportedly began a slow pursuit under 30 mph until Stubbs turned onto 288th, where he sped up to over 90 mph. According to police, they then called off the chase. Stubbs continued north, crashed into a Valmont Industries guard shack, and died at the scene.The guard was hospitalized with serious injuries.
