Richard S. Cantando was fleeing and fired on police as part of a high-speed pursuit before he fatally shot himself. Police said the chase began when police in Hilltown Township received a call about a possible suicidal person. Cantando allegedly had spoken to his minister, saying his probation was going to be violated but he couldn't go to prison.
