McKinnon was wanted on charges of kidnapping and robbery. After he tried to flee from a traffic stop, reportedly for a broken taillight, he hit a tree with his other and gasoline in his passenger compartment splattered on him. A deputy then tasered him, igniting the gasoline. McKinnon died from his burn wounds six months later.
