Gales was in a group approached by narcotics officers who suspected the group of drug related activities. Gales reportedly took off running, but was arrested. On the way to the Police Department, Gales stopped talking, slumped over in the back seat and appeared to be having a seizure. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
