Ricardo Avenia was shot while holding a woman at gunpoint inside a home. A neighbor called 911 around 10 p.m. to report children at the home were yelling that their father was going to kill their mother, and she was being beaten. An officer with a rifle shot Avenia in the back of the head, killing him.
