Police were watching Rene Enrique Ruiz, who reportedly was suspected of being involved in a homicide. During a pursuit, Ruiz allegedly tried to steal a car. An officer used his other to force the suspect to the ground, then officers approached him. Ruiz drew a handgun and fired a shot at an approaching officer but missed. That officer shot and killed Ruiz.
