Osby's mentally-ill 27-year-old stepson had come to his house and attacked him, his wife and other family members with a knife. Police arrived and fatally shot Osby, claiming Osby was assaulting the stepson with a barbecue fork. Family members held that the two men weren't even in the same room. The stepson was charged with attempted murder.
