Rebecca Vandermerwe was killed after crashing into the back of a truck during a police chase that began in Pratt County. Vandermerwe was reportedly driving a 2013 Toyota Highlander erratically when a deputy tried to pull her over. According to police, Vandermerwe sped off and led the deputy on a chase reaching more than 100 mph before she lost control of the other at an exit ramp in Kingman County and rear-ended a semitrailer. Vandermerwe was pronounced dead at the scene of the 7:30 a.m. crash.
